A photo printed on glass looks bad: colour does not exist in engraving. What we do is turn your photo into a line drawing — like a pencil portrait — and engrave that drawing inside the acrylic. That is why it works so well with faces, with hair and with pets, and why it does not work with landscapes.

2 A person traces the drawing
Someone at the workshop converts your photo into the line that gets engraved — by hand, not with a filter. The background is removed by default, so what is left is the two of you.

Turning a photo into a line drawing is a decision, not an automatic filter: the same portrait can be traced in very different ways. That is why the photo you send matters more here than on any other piece — close faces, good light, little background.
